My Classroom

Hi All! Here are just a few pictures of my classroom. What a week? Each day seemed to get easier and easier, so I take that as a good sign. I've actually got a really good group of kids. Almost 1/2 of them have been in class together since preschool so "separating the talkers" has proven a little difficult, but I am having a fun time.
We had a relaxing Sat. today. We all slept in until 8:45am! Can you believe that?! It was great! Then the kids and I just hung out at home doing laundry and playing (me-laundry, kids-playing!) After Bob got home from his VB game we ate lunch and then ran some errands. I have a MK customer who lives near the outlet mall and it just worked out perfect that she needed some things! :) I struck gold at the Bass Outlet. They were having 70% off their summer clothes. I got 3 skirts, 1 pair of pants, two shirts, 1 pair of shorts, a neclace and 3 pair of earrings for $99! According to my reciept I saved $178. Isn't that awesome?! Bob and the kids weren't as impressed with that as I was. :)
After that we went to Walmart and then to Outback Steakhouse for dinner. Mason got a good student award back in April that included a free kids meal at Outback and we just never had gotten around to using it. Boy was the steak delicious! On the way home we stopped at Best Buy, looked around but walked out with nothing. (That's a good thing!) And to top it all off we stopped by Starbucks on the way home.
Well, Kenzie is in the bath and is telling me that she's done, so I guess I'd better get her out and into bed. :)

First Day of School

Well, we made it through the first day and here are a few pictures that I promised. The computer kept locking up last night when I was downloading the pics from the camera so I lost the ones of Mason and Kenzie at home before school. :(
The first picture is Mason with our friend's daughter Chloe. She started Kindergarten. (Jim and Lora I'll email you the pictures.)
The second one of course is Mason with dad before school.
We had tears from both of them which was hard on me but we made it through. Kenzie bawled through chapel because she could see me but couldn't sit with me. She'll get used to it.
All in all it was a good day and today was even better!
Now I better go do some lesson plans! :)

Soooo busy!!!

I know, I know, it's been over a week since I've posted! Yes, we are still alive and well, we (I) have been super busy getting ready for school. I have forgotten how much work it takes to get ready for a new school year. As of today my classroom is ready and I am almost ready for the first day. I have a bit more planning to do before Monday but I should be ready. I guess I'll have to be! :)
Anyway, I promise to post some "first day of school" pictures. Bob is taking Mon. AM off to come with us to school because it dawned on me that my children are starting a brand new school and I can't even take them to their classrooms and get them settled because I have my own class to think about. It should work out just fine but I pray that both kids settle in just fine and aren't too nervous.
That's about it, I'll post again soon. :)

Fun with Friends...

Hi All! Tomorrow is my first "official" day of work. I have new teacher orientation this week but the kids don't start until the 21st. So, I have farmed out my kids to various friends. I forget sometimes how hard it can be not having family nearby! Anyway, the kids are going to Joey and Jennifer's tomorrow. That's Joey in the pictures above. The other day when he was over, Kenzie said to me, "Joey is......cute!" :) They'll have tons of fun tomorrow as will I. :)

Grossology

We went to Bishop Museum yesterday. They have a traveling exhibit called "Grossology", hence the first 3 pictures. The other two are in the Science Adventure Center . We had a lot of fun and of course they loved all the disgusting parts!
BTW, in case any of you "medical folks" are wondering, yes Kenzie is coming out of the large intestine. Gross!! :)
