Packers and DNP zones...

So, today was the first day of packing/moving. We've been anticipating this day for quite awhile now but the fact that it's here is just unbelievable!
Here are just a few pictures from today.
Since we will still be living in our house with "aloha furniture" (aka: borrowed beds and a table and chairs from the Air Force) we have a second shipment scheduled for July 15. That way we can keep the necessities (coffee maker, ect.) until we move out of the house. So, I rearranged my kitchen cupboards and put "Do Not Pack" signs all around. We also moved all of Kenzie's furniture out of her room and it is our official "DNP" room where we are throwing everything that goes in the second shipment.
This morning my little blonde girl said, "Mom, why do you have to put those signs up, the cupboards won't come off anyway?" I had to explain to her that the signs weren't so that they wouldn't pack the cupboards but for the stuff inside. :)

This is what our living room looks like right now. Pretty much everything in the house is now in boxes or wrapped in brown paper. Tomorrow they'll come back and load it into crates and put it on the slow boat to Nebraska. (We'll not directly to NE of course, probably California, then they'll switch to a truck. I don't really care how it gets there as long as it does!)
It was actually boring and kind of awkward to be sitting around while someone else packed up everything and did all the work, but it sure was nice to not have to do it ourselves. About the only thing I did was run out and get Subway for everyone. (I think tomorrow might be Zippy's chili and rice. Yummy!)
Well, I guess that's it for now. Hopefully I can find my toothbrush and alarm clock before I go off to bed. :)

Kauai vacation

We've been back a week now from our trip to Kauai but I haven't had the time or energy to blog. Kauai was peaceful, relaxing, and beautiful! We loved it!
Mason and Mackenzie's favorite thing by far were the pools at our hotel. We picked this hotel for that very reason and weren't disappointed. I think there were 5 different pools, including a sand pool and one with a slide!

Even the big kid had fun on the waterslide!

Kauai is famous for having chickens everywhere. There are different theories on why they have just taken over the island but seriously you don't go anywhere without seeing (or hearing) chickens and roosters.

These last few pictures are of Waimea Canyon, the "Grand Canyon of the Pacific". On our way up it was rainy and foggy as you can see in the bottom pictures, but we got a beautiful view after it cleared up.

All in all, a wonderful relaxing time in Kauai! :)
